Love’s Recompense (Poem)

Be not afraid to give—
Your heart's best, and your all.
Give, and still give.
Though life withdraw
The source from whence
Your love was born,
And leave you, sad, alone.

Give still, and with thy giving
Pray,—and on thy heart
As prayer ascends
A power shall come
And strengthen thee,
And love at last
With richness shall thee bless.
