The Beginning and the End: The First and the Last

"The Beginning and the End: The First and the Last."
Christ is not flesh, that ye should gaze
On person or on period,
He dwells beyond this passing phase
Of evolution—One with God.
He is not man—nor less than man:
His person as a mark must be.
How could it be that we should scan
Or know inscrutability?
He is above our feeble sense;
Beyond our words, our thought, is He,
And yet Divine Intelligence
Shall teach us, He is all we see.

Every thought which genius and piety throw into the world alters the world.
