Human Life (Poem)

Infinite possibility of life
Is ours who live upon this earth. Each soul
Is in itself a harmony, a whole
As given direct from God.
And if the strife
Enter and mar the music that is rife
Within the deeps of being, may the day
Dawn of sweet peace the world not takes away;
And may the soul its essence keep of life.
No human life exists that doth not hold
Its spark of fire divine; and if we willed
It should become, for the world's benefit,
A flame that those who outside joy are cold—
Be warmed, and all their hungering soul be filled
With God's great love. And who shall measure it?

Life opens up to all at every moment the highest good we can appropriate.
—C. B. Newcomb
