The Light of Reason (Poem)

Suggested on reading The Light of Reason

The light of reason, say, what can it be?—
The light of God, the Father-Principle;
The great First Cause, at whose commanding word
Day dawned and thickest darkness fled away.
Oh darkness! sable darkness! What art thou?—
The absence of a single golden ray.
Wrap, wrap me not in long eternal night!
Since Reason, still small voice of God, exclaims,
"Let there be Light!"
