Would'st thou, my soul, walk on that heavenly way—
The way of holiness? Then, it must be
Thy life on earth must ever proof display
That deep within thee dwelleth purity.
Thus holiness, or wholeness, of thy state
Shall shew thine inclinations ever lean
To do the things true wisdom shall dictate
As fruits of Love; in all God's children seen.
Yet in thy journey, think not to be free
From thorns and briars earth has spread around:
Thy fleshly foes may strive to hinder thee;
But thy resolves shall be with vict'ry crowned.
The Father's eye is ever looking on,
And He will whisper, "O my child! well done."
